Nepal breaks export records, yet the trade deficit widens. Find out why rising imports continue to overshadow economic progress.
Exports reached an all-time high of Rs. 200 billion last fiscal and the growth is largely attributed to global inflation and rising USD against Rupee.
Hence, the record high exports have failed to make a dent in Nepal’s foreign trade gap.
Due to soaring imports of Rs. 1.92 Trillion, the trade deficit is at a staggering Rs. 1.72 trillion.
